Now this is my kind of town building game! I will be honest I am not a huge fan of these types of games. I do like them, but they do not hold my attention for as long as they do many other people. Car Town Streets though is something a little different and the fact that there is car racing elements to it made me very interested.
Car Town Streets looks great everything is highly polished and it is one of the best looking town building style games I have seen in a very long time. What I think makes the game so easy on the eyes is just how much personality this game has. This perhaps more than any other town building game I have played has made me really want to make my town succeed. The reason for this is because when you first start to play the town is very drab and depressing. But when you start to get to work building buildings and getting new cars to move in then the town really comes to life.
One other thing that I got a kick out of is how the cars are like the towns folk of the game. I am not saying that they are like the cars from the Disney movie Cars, but these cars still do feel like they are alive and have there own little lives.
The core game play is very similar to other town building games. You will need to build all kinds of various buildings in order to improve the town. You cars will drive around doing various jobs and interacting with each other. This is how they will earn new abilities and level up. The new buildings that you add to the town will create various jobs for the cars. And of course they can also race which made the game much more fun for me personally.
Getting new cars to come to your town is rather odd, but I felt that it worked very well. When you want a new car. You will need to search an area with a little GPS style thing. A map screen will pop up requiring you to push these little dots. Once you have got rid of all these dots you may get lucky and find a couple of cars. Then you will be required to build the car. This may sound like a very time consuming process to add new cars, but I found it fun. And if you want you can buy cars from the showroom, but I felt they were way over priced.
While I have really enjoyed my time with Car Town Streets I do have one issue with the game. Actually it is a issue I have with most of these style games. And that is the real time aspect of building things. It sometimes can take hours for a car or building to build. I know this is not a issue exclusive to Car Town Streets, but it still sometimes can bring your gaming sessions to a stop. And in my own personal case can actually make me lose interest in the game.
In all I highly recommend this game. I am sure that even fore people who are big fans of town building style games that they will enjoy the little things that make this one unique. And I will even recommend it for people who are not that into this style of game as like I admitted this is a genre of game that I will try and avoid, but this game did suck me right in.
