I can review iOS puzzle games probably every day and never get sick of them. The reason for this is because while there are a large number. There are many different variations in the puzzle genre and you get one every now and again that will completely take you by surprise. Reveal The Maze is certainly one of those games that for me at least came in right under the radar.
The idea of Reveal The Maze is actually quite simple. What you are required to do is navigate a little marble, glass ball, silver ball or whatever you want to call it through a maze. There have been games like this in the past. And I even remember having a physical one as a kid where I had to move and tilt a wooden maze around to make the marble move.
Reveal The Maze however has a unique game play feature that make the game even more nerve wrecking than these types of games usually are. You can only see a tiny bit of the maze that is right in front of you. When you play one of these games and you can see everything it is very intense as you are always worried that the slightest movement can really wreck your game. Here it is even worse (in a good way) because you cannot see. To make things a little easier there are power ups that will let you see more of the maze which are an absolute god send when you find one.
Considering the basic premise of the game it is really great to see that the a great deal of time was also spent making the game look great. I have played more than a few puzzle games that have seen graphics as an after thought which with this kind of premise I am sure could have been done, but instead every care has been taken to make sure the game is as polished as possible.
Reveal The Maze is a really great game that is well worth downloading. I just love the sense of panic that you have every time you play it. I also loved watching other people play this and it is really amusing to see when they start to lose control of the marble how they start freaking out and try moving the device in all directions in a desperate attempt to survive.
There is a great number of levels available in the game some of which are really tough. Many times I found my self trying to make a mental map of the maze I was in, but as soon as you make one wrong move that goes right out the window and you are franticly tilting every which way praying you will land at the exit of the level.
I highly recommend this game. It has been made free for a limited time, but even at full price the game will cost you under a buck. And if I am honest at under a buck the game is still an absolute steal.
