If your ipod touch is frozen, and the device isn’t responding to tapping on the screen or pushing of buttons, you may want to try resetting it to see if it resolves the problem.
1)First try turning off and on (what’s called a soft reset) – press and hold power button until “slide to power off” appears on the screen, then slide to turn off. Once device is off, press sleep/wake button to turn it back on.
2)If problem still persists, try doing a hard reset or a forced reboot: Hold sleep/wake button and home button together until the screen goes black and then the Apple logo appears.
3)Alternatively, if you’re experiencing glitches with your device and suspect that it may be settings related, try resetting the settings (boy is that a mouth-full):
Settings > General > scroll to bottom and select Reset > Reset All Settings
You’ll see the message “This will reset all settings. No data or media will be deleted.” Click on “Reset All Settings”.
None of the above methods will harm the content stored on your device (i.e. photos, videos, apps, app data, etc.). However, if that wasn’t enough to solve your problem, you may need to consider restoring your ipod to factory settings or from a backup. (Note: some people call that “resetting the ipod touch to factory settings“, which is incorrect; the correct term is “restore”.)
