Speed Tracker is an app created by AppAnnex, LLC. It costs $3.99 and is available on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Functionality:
Speed Tracker is a utility app that acts as an accurate GPS speedometer. It can tell you how far you’ve traveled, how long you’ve traveled for (time-wise), how long you’ve stopped for, current speed, max speed, altitude, average speed and even coordinates.
There are four different types of view available. The first view is a dashboard display which shows all the data mentioned above in one page. The second view is the speedometer which only shows speed. The third view is the map which shows both your current speed and location.
The last view is the “HUD” which can be used as an accurate speedometer. Simply rest your iPhone or iPad under the windshield, and Speed Tracker will display your current speed.
Another cool feature of Speed Tracker is its Trip Log. If you don’t remember how long it takes to get to places, or how far away those places are, then you can use Trip Log to track that information down. Trip Logs can even be exported or shared using the Trip Computer.
The Good:
Speed Tracker is very accurate. If you want to test its accuracy, you can compare it to your car’s speedometer. This app also has a really great user interface.
The Bad:
While testing this app I was not able to find any glitches or shortcomings.
Conclusion:
If you want to have a handy speedometer in your pocket for cycling, driving, biking, or other activities, then this is the app for that. $3.99 makes it a bit expensive, but it’s totally worth it when compared to other low quality apps that offer the same service.
