Pimp Your Screen is an app created by Apalon. It costs $1.99 and is available on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Functionality:
Pimp Your Screen is basically a wallpaper generator that can create customized backgrounds, icon skins, app shelves and neon combos. This means is that any design you create ends up being saved in the photo library. From there you go to settings, wallpapers, and select that customized design as your phone’s home screen or lock screen.
In the home screen maker for example you can choose your background from hundreds of photos, or you can import your own photo from the photo library. Then you can either add shelf overlays to your home screen, or app icon skins.
Once you’ve finalized your design, you can save it to your photo library, and enable it as a lock screen from the settings. You can also share your design with friends through Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, email and other apps.
The Good:
App skins, backgrounds and app shelves can all be previewed before enabling them on your phone. There is also a really good selection of wallpaper elements to customize your background.
The Bad:
There’s no way to edit the transparency or effects of backgrounds. Also you can’t add text, or photo layers. For a $1.99 app you’d expect a bit more functionality.
Conclusion:
There are plenty of free and $.99 apps out there that do the same thing as “Pimp Your Screen.” $1.99 is a bit over priced for an app that does so little. You’d be better off using Shelf Backgrounds and Wallpapers Free over this Pimp Your Screen.
