Deal Or No Deal is an insanely popular TV show; actually I think that the majority of countries around the globe have their own version of it. Anyway, like most TV shows that are huge hits, a video game has to be made. So here today we are looking at the game Deal Or No Deal, but do you want to bank (sorry for the bad pun!) on it actually being any fun?
For those of you who do not know what Deal Or No Deal is, let me try and sum it up for you. There are 26 contestants including yourself. All the other contestants have a box and so do you. The idea is to win as much money as possible with each box having some cash inside. You will ask each person to open their box and that takes away one of the 26 different cash prizes. The banker will call the contestant at points in the game and offer them a cash deal to walk away from the game. This would be the Deal. If the contestant does not do this (the “No Deal”), they will open all the boxes before finally opening their own, and what is in their own box is how much they will be taking home. Could it be a million dollars? Or will it just be a couple of bucks?
So up to speed? Lets get on with the iOS version of Deal Or No Deal. The game looks ok, but really its nothing to shout about. They have captured the look of the show pretty well, but one thing really bugs me and that is the look of the other contestants. They all pretty much look the same. One thing that I think would have been really cool would be if you could put pictures of your friends as the contestants.
The game play is kind of fun – if you like the show I am sure you will like this, but for those who are not familiar with the show I am sure a great deal of the appeal will be lost. I will say that it is really exciting when the banker calls that very first time. One thing – and this I know will sound silly to criticize – is that as there is no real money involved, you may at sometimes just rush through the game to try and open your box at the end. Now I know there was no way they could give us real money, but it is still an issue.
Overall I think this is certainly a game for fans of the show. If you like Deal Or No Deal then I have no doubt you will have fun with this.
