The iPad is supposed to have up to ten hours of battery life on a full charge and that depends a lot on how you use it. These tips will help you conserve the battery life so you can go as long as possible between charges.
One way to conserve battery life for your iPad is to turn off Wi-Fi when you are not using it. To do this tap Settings, Network, Wi-Fi and then slide to “off”. You can then turn it back on when you want to use it again. This works the same if your iPad has a 3G data connection. You can turn 3G service off when you aren’t using it by tapping Settings, Network, 3G and then slide 3G to off. Bluetooth is another type of internet connection that will drain the battery and shouldn’t be left on unless you are using it. To turn off Bluetooth, tap on Settings, General and the slide Bluetooth to off.
Data Push is another service that can be turned off in order to conserve your iPad’s battery life. If you get email on your iPad, you will want to set it to check periodically, but can turn Data Push off by tapping on Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Fetch New Data and then slide that to off. Then, to make sure your iPad will still check for email you can go into Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Fetch New Data to change the settings.
Location services are something else you can turn off to conserve battery life. You can always turn it back on if you are going to use GPS services. When you aren’t using those, turn location services off by tapping on Settings, Location Services and slide to off.
Allowing your iPad to automatically adjust the screen brightness will help save battery life because it will automatically dim in brighter locations. You can set this service by tapping on Settings, Brightness, and slide to on. You can also reduce the screen brightness by going to Settings, Brightness and turn the slider to the lowest, yet comfortable brightness level. Also, speaking of the screen, you can prompt it to auto-lock sooner to conserve the battery life of your iPad. To do this, Tap on Settings, General, Auto-Lock and choose a timing that works best for you.
