Puzzle games are easily one of the most popular gaming genres on the iOS. I actually think that it has been since the inception of the iOS. And while I do love puzzle games that require you to mix or match three of a certain kind of object. It’s pretty awesome when a new puzzle game comes along that does not want me to match three things together. Still I am not saying this is the most original puzzle game in the world, but it certainly through enough twists at me to take me by surprise.
Quell Memento looks amazing. I am sure at a quick glance you may not really think any of the way that the game looks. But everything is just so crisp and clear that it really is very easy on the eyes. And the backgrounds are pretty well detailed as well. So while the game may not make you stop and stare it is still a very good looking game.
The game has a somewhat interesting story. It actually is quite a lot like the Xbox Live Arcade game Braid. Where you are piecing together memories. The story is told by a narrator who just has a really soothing voice. The only problem I had with the story was that there is not enough. It would sometimes feel like I was playing forever before I would get some more information. I think that they were trying to make this one of those stories where you would use your own imagination, but as intrigued as I was I never really felt like I knew what the heck was going on.
As far as the game play goes this is a very tricky game. It sounds like it should be very easy as all you have to do is collect a bunch of pearls from each level. The way you do this is by moving your ball across the screen. It will keep on going until it hits a wall or another obstacle. The real challenge of the game comes n trying to collect the pearls in as few moves as possible. To spice things up new game play mechanics will be given to you as you progress. This is a very interesting game in that you have no timer or limit to how many times you can move. As a matter of fact in most cases you cannot even die and if you do your only punishment is having to restart the level. So when you think about it the game while offering a great challenge is never really all that frustrating.
Quell Memento is a great puzzle game. It looks and sounds fantastic and it offers a great challenge without ever making you want to rip your hair out in frustration. I think the 2.99 asking price is more than fair as there is as of writing 150 levels for you to play with. If you like puzzle games then I really do think this is a game that should be on your to play list.
