The original Super Stickman Golf was a pretty big hit. It was a game that I am sure many of us myself included really did not expect to blow up the way that it did. It is so easy for a developer when they have a hit on there hand to go over to the dark side when it comes to making a sequel. But I am very pleased to say that the good guys at Noodlecake Studios have decided to give us pretty much more of everything that made the first game so great.
Graphics wise this is a very weird game. You see part of me wants to say how basic the game looks which it really does. But the game just has this amazing charm to it that is really hard to explain. One thing that is really cool is the backgrounds. They just have a very nice look to them.
Super Stickman Golf 2 is all about the game play. Now do not worry you do not need to be Tiger Woods to play this game. This is more of a physics based puzzle game than a sports game. When you start the single player campaign your goal is to get the ball in the hole under par. You have a great range of courses at your disposal. One level you may be playing on slippery ice and another one will see you struggle because of sticky floors. One thing I will say is that this is a game that does not mess around at all. The first few levels ease you in pretty well. But then this game kicks you in the butt and ramps up the difficulty.
As great as the core game play is in Super Stickman Golf 2 for me the thing that really is amazing is the upgrades that you can get. I have two that really helped me out fist of all are the magnetic balls. These will stick to metal surfaces. Another really cool one is the sticky balls, but these really should be used once you get to the grips with the game. But the sticky balls can let you take some shortcuts. So if you know what your doing they are very useful.
It may surprise you to know that there is a great deal of strategy in this game. It is not uncommon to stare at the screen for a good minute or two before you make a single move. You really want to get the best score you possibly can. So you never want to rush into anything. Another thing that adds to the strategic part of the game is that you are limited to how many upgrades you can use per hole.
I had a great deal of fun with this game in single player, but man the multiplayer is just so much fun. There are a few modes, but the one that literally stole hours and hours away from my life is the turn based mode. You and another player take turns trying to out do each other. This may not sound like much, but you will be amazed at how addictive this mode is. There is also another mode where four players can battle it out in the cup mode.
Super Stickman Golf 2 is a fantastic game and honestly it would be a bargain at double the price. There is just so much content here both in single and multi player that it is a great purchase. If you are not a golf fan then do not be put off as this is a game that can be enjoyed by everyone.
