The Cave is a game created by SEGA. It costs $4.99 and is available on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Gameplay:
This game is really interesting. It’s created by Double Fine, a game production team known for delivering amazing game experiences.
In The Cave you play as seven characters, each with their own personality and special abilities. All of the characters are adventuring into the cave to discover what is most important to them. However, to find that important thing, they have to help each other past puzzles, underground amusement parks, medieval castle, and even a fully armed nuclear research facility.
One of the “characters” you can play as is two twins. So you might say they count as two characters, but they actually are one. They move, jump and act as one being.
In addition to this game’s great storyline, it is also full of beautiful graphics and puzzles, as well as entertaining humor.
The Good:
This is one of those games that will go down in gamer history as a classic. It reminds me a lot of Limbo or Mark of the Ninja. I think that the Cave is actually better than both of those games combined, because instead of one character, you play as seven personality-full characters.
The Bad:
The controls are a bit odd. There is no overlay of controls. Instead you just touch the screen in the direction you want to move. Many other people on iTunes agree with my opinion that the controls could be improved.
Conclusion:
If you’re into 2D side-scrolling games, then The Cave is a must have. If you’re into mysteries and adventures, then this game is also a must have. If you enjoy games such as Limbo or Mark of the Ninja, then you will also enjoy this one.
I’m not really sure who I wouldn’t recommend this game to. Even if you’re into FPS games, it’s nice to kick back and explore with a simple but elegant game such as this one.
