I love zombies. Actually I always have and I probably always will do. I could not tell you why, and my wife will always role her eyes saying all zombie movies are the same. But I not care what anyone else says zombies are awesome. Still though it seems like there is no shortage of zombie killing action that can be had these days. But Undead Soccer as I am sure you can imagine from the title is taking a different approach to zombies.
Zombie games to me are all about how awesome they people who are making the game can make the zombies look. Well Undead Soccer does feature some pretty cool zombie character models. And the levels also are nice. Well as nice as it can be when you are playing soccer in a zombie apocalypse.
Now this is a game that is all about killing zombies, but the way you do it is very different to other games. You may be used to taking down hordes of zombies with a shotgun or maybe a baseball bat. But here the only weapon that you will need is a ball, and your Christiano Ronaldo football skills to put these undead suckers back in the ground.
Undead Soccer is played from a first person point of view. You have a football (sorry I mean soccer ball. Hey give me a break I am from the UK!) at the bottom of your screen and you need to flick it at the approaching zombies who want to munch on your brains. It is very easy to pick up and play, and after a while you will be hitting the ball at zombies who are a mere dot on the screen they are that far away. This incredibly simple control scheme is so much fun to play. I actually think this is the most fun I have had killing zombies in a very long time.
I do have one minor complaint with the game and that is when zombies are off the screen. You can tilt your device in order to look around a little bit and this can sometimes feel very awkward. It is not game breaking by any means, but it is still a pain in the butt when you have to do it. Also when zombies are off screen it would have been nice if a little arrow would pop up on the screen to warn you.
You get coins which can be used to buy various upgrades these can be things such as extra health so that you can last a little longer. And the one I found most useful a shortening of the amount of time it takes in between shots. Now you do get coins in the game, but you can use real money to buy stuff from the in app store if you so wish.
In all the good by a mile out weighs the bad in Undead Soccer. This is a game that will provide you with loads of fun. And in truth there is no need to spend any real money in order to get the best out of the game.
