A team created and lead by Steven Jobs, Apple CEO developed the iPod. They did not, however, invent MP3 players. MP3 players had been on the market for quite some time by companies such as Diamond, Sony and Creative Labs but there was no iTunes or Napster, so using them was cumbersome and they weren’t very popular. The iPod on the other hand was developed to make loading and listening to music easy and fun to do.
The team who developed the iPod, including Steve Jobs consisted of:
-
Senior Vice President of Design at Apple, Jonathan Ive
-
Engineer and Former Senior Vice President of the iPod Divisions, Tony Fadell
-
Engineer, Michael Dhuey
-
Interface designers, Tim Wasko
